Fiscal Year & Quarters Guide
Architecture and calculation rules for Nepal official fiscal year and quarterly trimester accounting cycles.
In Nepal the official fiscal year begins on 1 Shrawan and ends on the final day of Ashadh in the following calendar year. The nepali date library includes specialized functions to compute fiscal years, identify trimester quarters, and determine quarter start and end boundary dates for financial, tax, and accounting systems.
Fiscal Year Structure
Because the fiscal year starts in the fourth month of Bikram Sambat (Shrawan), every fiscal cycle spans two calendar years:
- Format: Standardized as
YYYY/YY(for example2081/82 BS). - Start Date:
1 Shrawan(Month index3, Day1). - End Date:
Last day of Ashadh(Month index2, Day31or32of the succeeding calendar year).
Fiscal Quarters (Trimesters)
The financial year in Nepal is divided into four three month trimesters:
